Plexi Glass?

This may soudn really stupid but i see alot of setups that use plxi glass for the model to stadn on. What is this used for?

I'm not sure I got it right, but a suggestion might be to keep the background tarp clean and protect it from shoe prints and wear and tare. But it might also work as a bit of a reflector, I'm not sure.

I'm not sure about standing, but the plexiglass is an easy way to get a reflection if say it was on a black backdrop.

Plexiglass gives a white, black or solid colored surface with a mirror-like reflection. But after a model has been walking on it in shoes you throw it away and buy another one!
