Both are okay efforts. It looks like a great subject. Maybe you should get down lower and try to get rid of anything except the church and headstones on the horizon line. The few things that are there now are very distracting and keep this from being a great shot to me.

I like the first one. You picked a good time to shoot, as the morning (or afternoon) light nicely picks up the church's color. It makes a nice contrast with the sky. Yet the cloud keeps the contrast from poking you in the eye. I don't think there are any major distractions, although you might clone out the utility wires for a nicer effect. Lastly, I don't know what the previous poster is talking about when suggesting that you get lower. What are you supposed to do dig a hole? The church is on the top of a hill.

Thanks for the replies PBeee and joedlh. I can get rid of the pole and power lines . It was taken an hour after sunrise. It was about -10 celcius and I wasn't about to lay on the ground. I was trying to get as low as I could. I will return to take some different angles when it's warmer. lol.

Both nice, especially #1. Cracking light and colour.

I love #1! It is the colour that makes it a great shot. Just a little bit tighter crop to get rid of the bush on the left hand side and it is perfect.
You guys got very nice light there in Nova Scoatia !
