Has anyone used a Spyder or Spyder 2 to calibrate your monitor? Was it difficult and/or worth it?

Thanks!

I used to have SpyderPro (the original one) and the process was straight-forward enough. The only problem was that it took so long to run through the calibration. I'm not sure if Spyder 2 is just as slow but I heard that it could be.

Yes, I calibrate with Spyder 2 Pro and results are what they should be. Not very fast, but you do not have to do it every day, and it's better to have slow and accurate instead of fast and almost accurate. It has a fast verify mode and can remind periodically if you want to be sure your screen is up to date.

A nice surprise to me was that each monitor in dual monitor setup can get its own ICC profile - now both monitors are 100% identical.

You might like to read this (http://www.shootsmarter.com/infocenter/wc026a.htm). Free registration necessary, and worthwhile.

How fast/often do you find that it falls out of calibration?
Would you say you had to calibrate it every week or so?

I know nothing of this, but as my prints never match my color on the monitor I'm seriously looking into it! I just can't justify $250+ for the Spyder right now. I wish they would rent them out at the camera stores locally.

I just got the original Eye One from J&R Music World for $65, which included shipping.
Haven't tried it yet though.
