Is anyone out there using the SD500 or Ixus 700 with the WP-DC70 housing for underwater photography? I'm in the market and would love to get some feedback. Like can you do any macro photography, how's the shutter delay, etc. TIA.

I would also like to know this as I have an SD300....however I doubt you will get any answers...when I made my thread no one posted anything :(

One can only hope. I have seen some negative comments about the housing (and the camera for that matter) on other boards. One said that the natural way to pick up the housing results in your fingers hitting the controls and changing the image settings. Another complained about the fact that the housing is positively bouyant, so you have to buy a $40 kit to adjust the bouyancy.

My main question is whether or not I can adjust settings and turn the camera on/off while its in the case. I guess you just answered that for me!

I wish I could find some underwater pics taken by an SD300/400/500 etc so I could see if the quality underwater is even worth it for me :(

I have no direct experience with that equipment. But if its made like the Ixus 500 and its own UW case, I have had no problems in using it. I even tested it lately up to -45 mt, that is 5 mts below the max depth allowed.

You will have (always if its built in the same way) ALL the controls of the camera available.

And yes, the WDP-800 is a little positive, but really nothing that bores.

So I went with the SD500 and the WP-DC070. I love the camera, so far. Impressive resolution and detail, intuitive functions, it's all good. I guess my only complaints are the lack of a battery meter, and potentially the TWAIN format which means that you have to have a driver installed on a computer before you can download pictures.

I have not tested the housing in actual dive conditions, yet, but did shoot some photos in a pool, a couple of which are attached. I certainly have some learning curve to climb, but there is definite potential there.

Glad it worked out. You should be able to pull the pictures off the card with anything you like. The camera has a PTP mode which should allow it to appear as a device that you can mount.

I also love my housing! I don't plan on doing any diving as of right now....but it sure is fun for pool parties!
