They do look like a serious bunch, don't they. Interesting colors and framing. With a group this close and intense it's tough to know where to crop I guess. The red just draws my eye. Very nice.

That's an interesting shot. My eyes keep going to the one soldier that is distracted, and looking at the camera. . . . love it!

DITTO! My eyes are drawn to that point as well. Nice capture and framing. :D
BTW, That's the most Styer AUG's I've seen in one place. (Must be standard issue in OZ.)

Heck, What do I know? They looked like AUG's to me. Must have been the similarity of the Bull Pup design.

great photo... my only critique - not that you asked for one - is that the colors are a little blown out... like the medals on the first gentlemen, the red in the hats and the highlights on their faces - but that could be the screen on my laptop or just what happens when the sun actually shines up in that part of the country. Lovely shot regardless - I've come back a couple of times to study it. Thanks for posting it.

Yup have to agree about the colours, had a devil of a job getting the colours right, incidentally a snapper from another paper using a 10D had the same probs, it was -2 degrees at the time, and I noticed this doing other jobs in low temperatures. possibly has nothing to do with it as many 10D users in colder parts of the world than here may not have a problem.
Interesting to hear any feedback.
Incidentally the weapon is the SA-80, standard issue to British Infantry, I found the following statistics:
Made by Heckler and Koch
Designation: L85
Length: 785 mm (barrel 518 mm)
Weight: Rifle 2800 g, full magazine 480 g, optical sight 700 g
Rifling: 6 grooves, RH
Ammunition: NATO 5.56 x 45 mm
Muzzle velocity: 940 m/s
Rate of fire: 610-770 rounds per minute

Interesting, I didn't know HK had a design like that. Thanks for posting this.

OOPS! Sorry for the mistake. When I hear "Perth", I automatically think OZ.
Phil, Does this mean the 10D's colors seem to be off a bit in colder weather?

I really like the officer with his medals, crop and sash, his face set tight and the wrinkle under his eye, a full head shorter than his men. Not a man to cross.
excellent photo, in many ways.

They look bad ASS!! Only thing I am wondering is, do people take them seriously wearing dresses? ;););) Just joking! Always wanted a kilt. If it wasnt for whiskey, the Scots would rule the world- God Bless the Royal Highland Division.
Great shot by the way!!!!
