My experience is that for indoors and holidays where you expect to take many landscapes you'd be better off with a wide lens than a standard zoom like the Tamron. The 10-22 EF-S is great, but Tokina has a good 12-24, plus Sigma/Tamron have some good wides too.

You suggest 10-22 and 12-24.... but I didn't see them as part of your kit.

Try samys. The store I walked into yesterday had the tamrons. Not sure how in-store inventory affects their online inventory.

Check out the equivalent Sigma, the 24-70mm f2.8 EX DG Macro, as well.

If you want a good wide that can also work very as a city walk around on a 300D then the Tokina 20-35mm is highly recommended and it's a constant 2.8. I guess you can use your kit lens if you need wide just now and again tho'.

Hope you manage to find your way out of the pub ... otherwise you may as well just stay at home :p

I soon tired of my kit 18-55, and managed to find a Tamron 28-75 XR Di on ebay, obtaining it for £196... It's a cracking lens, but just doesn't go wide enough on a 1.6 camera like the 20D for most of my walk around photography.
I then managed to find a lightly used Sigma 18-50 F2.8 on ebay for £206 and now keep this on the camera 80% of the time. It's not as good as the Tamron, but has a better working range for most of my needs.
I looked at picking up a very wide angle lens like a 10-22 but I just cannot justify the cost for a lens I would use so little. Instead, I tend to take two or three exposures and stitch them using autostitch for great results. 360 degree panoramas work well with this too (and the use of a spherical viewer).

My suggestion is based on not having a wide enough lens on holiday myself, those suggestions are just a couple of examples of lenses that i've read about, rather than particular recommendations. I have read a lot about them, i'm planning on getting one myself soon.
