Damn. I bought me an angle finder for the 50D but it will not fit my 7D :( Does anyone know if you get just the mounts for the thing? Checked ebay but no luck! :(

If you bought it brand new, there's another mount that will fit the 7D. It's in the pocket on the inside of the case for the anglefinder (I'm assuming you have the Canon version; if not, then all bets are off).

It uses the same mount as that used for the 1D MkIII if that's any help.

Yea the Canon one comes with two mount piece options. Im guessing the other one that I have never needed to use is for those bodies.

Out of curiousity, what situations to you find the angle finder better than using live view?

When the camera is low to the ground and you can't (or don't want to) get that low yourself. When using the camera on a copy stand.

The copy stand I can see but I find live view easier to use than an angle finder even with camera sitting on the ground. I guess the angle finder would work better if the camera were on the ground and pointed up so that the rear of the camera is completely hidden...

When the sun washes out the LCD.

Yes, that's the situation I was referring to although the camera doesn't necessarily have to be on the ground. It just needs to be lower than you feel comfortable putting yourself at.

That's just it. You still have to get your eye up against the angle finder so you end up on your hands and knees in the mud instead of on your stomach in the mud. With the LCD you can just squat down a few feet back and see just fine.

A Hoodman loupe solves that problem plus it magnifies the LCD... For me it beats the anglefinder that's why I sold mine.
