Hey PoTN
I'm a young Seattle/Bellevue based photographer. I haven't done a lot of photography for pay but mostly taking shots with my friends but decided I have acquired the skills to get paid for what i enjoy to to do. This is my first web site. Tell me what you think.

You have some pretty crazy crops on those photos, Brandon. To me, virtually all of them have too much space at the top and are cropped off at the bottom. Enough that perhaps it could be an artifact of the way you did the web site, and not how you intended them to be cropped?
Also, it crashed my browser after viewing the first 20 or so pics (FireFox 3.5.7)

It looks like your using iWeb. I'm going to launch another website using it. Don't forget to delete "made on a mac", unless you wanted it in.

I think that if you displayed only horizontal (landscape on a printer) pictures you could get rid of the black bar at the top.
$1 / shot on a DVD seems not worth your time. Prospects will think you are a better photographer if you charge more

My first reaction is: what kind of a photographer are you.... what is your target market? I'm trying to think like a possible client. Are you doing model work, weddings, event, commercial?
It's a nice opening photo, but it's pretty generic and neutral in trying to convey what you do. Also I'm not sure I like the way the thumbnails obscure the lower portion of the main photo. Not a biggie to make it go away once I realized that, but you're up against some really slick looking sites. I could be mistaken, but your email is text and possibly ripe for address harvesting spambots?
I completely agree about the $1/shot comment. Charge cheap and people will treat you like that, expect the world, and want everything else for free. Some of the images are quite good - others are fairly average.... but there are a lot of them. You may want to consider culling the fair ones and just feature the best. I'd think that would improve load time.
Btw - welcome to POTN :D. Please don't take my comments personally - just trying to be constructive. ;)

the home page is nice and simple, but maybe make the pic bigger
Your gallery page... the thumbnails cover up 40-% of the pic and even when moved off of it to let it retract, it never goes away, unless you hover over the pic.... by time i figure that out im bored.
Get rid of the pic & info below the Gallery window. Full time Student is NOT an attribute, the $ in Seattle is not helping at all and in fact a HUGE deterrent. the thumbs to the right there... are useless I thought they would lead to other galleries or at least "those" pics.
watch these videos, Very helpful on overall design and what NOT to include in galleries.

It's pretty pedestrian.
If you want a good website, you should probably hire a designer to do a proper one. Also your web address is on there, then another directory with the same web address...it makes no sense to do it that way.
I would also take off the "Made on a Mac" thing because trying to be all pretentious with a website like that is kind of odd.

I noticed some odd line breaks in your copy. I would also avoid using a dollar sign as an "s" in anything. It just looks bad. Congrats on the site. It didn't load slow for me at all.
