How can you make a bunch of cows say cheese for the camera?

These pictures where taken during my trip to New Zealand, second being in the area where lod of the rings was filmed, place of some beatifull scenery, used 300D with 17-40mm on these ones

When pros picture cattle for advertising, they'll have someone about forty feet in front of the cow with a big sack over his head, moving around and making weird noises. It makes the cow perk up her ears and look more alert. Alternatively, a goat will have the same effect. I have no idea why.
