Hello all!
I've been spying on you guys for a good few months now and have finally decided to take to plunge and expose myself (well just pictures for now) to you. :D
I'm pretty new to SLR's, have about 3 months under my belt with my 350D so please be kind. No actually be brutal, I want to stop making silly mistakes and get my pictures looking as nice as possible! So what do you think?

Some very moody pics. I really like the last one, just feel maybe you went just a bit overboard in the photoshop.

The first one has a great feel, especially the black and white grainy effect.. It suits the subject. However it is the bars that are in focus rather than the girl (more noticeable in the sharper colour pic).
4 and 5 do nothing much for me....... - snapshots......of the variety that would mean something to the person/s involved with her, but not much else to others..... (IMO)
The wide format of no.6 works really well, but the girl on the right end loses her face because of the high contrast while the girl on the left has a very bright thigh.
The composition in the last one is excellent, but I feel the effects are a bit overpowering. More subtle would be better. It is a lovely shot, - dynamic, and you can feel the openness of the big sky and all the grass......well done
Keep em coming Mr Ric!

I like #2 and #7 the best.
Reason being the bars are not so prominent as in the first one in BW, but I really like the mood of the shot! And #7 is interesting to me....catches my attention.
#3 just has way to much 'bars'!
#4 I like those kinds of shots but there's just too much space to the right. A tighter crop would fix that.
#5 Her skin is looking a bit too white or something. Maybe BW would be better for it.
#6 I like it, but the darker skinned girl just fades into the background. That's a tough shot because she is so much more darker skinned than the other girls, plus it looks like she's farthest away from the light and disappears into the shadows.
Overall, pretty good stuff for only 3 months with an SLR!! Keep it up Mr Ric!!

Cheers for the pointers! I've changed 5 to b&w and cropped 3 and i think they do look quite a bit better now.
I was a bit gutted the camera focused on the metal bars, i think i'm going to have to stop being lazy and flick to manual from now on! I still quite like the pictures though so all is not lost.
Might go on a picture posting spree now, my house mates are rubbish because they're obliged to make the appropriate noises, + the pictures are of them so hardly going to say they look rubbish!
How's this?

I still quite like the pictures though so all is not lost.
That's the most important thing!
How's this?
I love the ratty mohawk! And it's a very good picture to boot! I do wish there were'nt any people behind him as it's a bit distracting, but not too much!
Now fly with your 'posting spree'.........fly!
