My honest opinion...wonderful! Were you in the AI Servo focus mode for the owl shot?

I like both of your shots very much. But i believe u could actually improve on the shot of the Lion ?
I would actually suggest framming the entire forebody of the lion, meaning the left and right legs, his shoulders and all. But i understand the probablility of a lion yawning , is like, once in an hour ? so you do not have much time for framming . Words up, just my 2 cents worth

Really great shots. Sharp as hell. The lion shot is perfect IMO. Was the Barn Owl in the wild or at a zoo?

Both shots are terrific and although I can see the point, regarding the lion, I don't agree, I think it is spot on as it is

Thank you all for your comments on these images. The reason for the tight crop of the Lion was to eliminate the man-made and rather unnatural looking platform he was sitting on. Yes the autofocus was indeed set to AL Servo for the shot of the Barn Owl in flight. One of the great advantages of digital is that you can fire away on the motordrive setting (5fps on the 20D) without the worry of cost and running out of film. This particular Barn Owl is a captive bird rescued from the wild and was part of a dispay at a local wildlife centre.

With these kind of pics, you have a dream combination...good camera+lens+user.

Thank you.
