Please explain to me what these gel filters are, how they are used with camera. Also what exactly what is needed to use them?

Gel filters are 3x3 or 4x4 or larger squares of optically clear gelatine which are dyed en mass to very strict tolerances. As far as I know only Kodak currently produces them. They are designed for technical applications such as studio color correction, copy work, or scientific work. There is a much larger selection avaible in gels than in glass or optical resin filters. However, they are very fragile and would not generally be used for normal photography. You would need a gel filter holder of some kind, usually a frame and screw in adapter.
