What a beautiful, moody place. Is that a stitched photo?

I like this shot, Trevor. I like it a lot.
I wish I lived further north. :(
I've always prefered a good, heavy sky. Nothing more boring for me than a cloudless sky. Good job, considering where I live.
By way of C&C, since you ask, and this is nit picking. Would it have been possible to move your vantage point so that the trees don't obscure the nearest island ?
Talking about vantage points, where did you shoot this from ?
It reminds me a bit of the Shieldaig area, but it's so long ago I'm probably miles away.
Got any more ? :o ................ Sorry if that sounds a bit pushy.
Best regards,

Thanks Cameron.
Yes it is near Shieldaig. We went along the coast road towards Applecross and stopped overlooking the Loch. Sadly I couldn't get a better view without crampons:lol: and a chainsaw. Maybe next time.
I have to confess that I tweaked the sky a little, to make it a little moodier. I found a technique in a magazine that Nicki bought me, that I thought I'd try. PLEASE don't tell anyone:)
I'm working through the images at present, so I'll post again if I like any of them. I think I'm getting fussy in my old age, we went out Saturday to Croick church and stopped for some river shots. I got bitten to death, but still didn't really like the shots I took! I may post one or two though for your opinion.:)

On my uncalibrated monitor, it seems that there is a pretty dramatic light fall-off on the left side of the photo. I tend to have that problem when I try to stitch photos to make a panorama, so I was wondering if you had the same thing happening in this photo. The difference is, I couldn't find any obviously stitched areas, so I was going to complement you on your blending!

Trevor,
I know that place too - I've a pano shot on 35mm of almost that exact same area!

We promise not to tell as long as you share the info with your friends!;)
I like the composition and the crop you have choosen - the diagonal of the edge of the islands leads the eye nicely through the image.
I think I only have one suggestion and one complaint - possibly bump up the saturation about +25 to bring out some of the greens on the mountains - and the complaint - looks like you'll have to clean your sensor there's at least three dust marks I can see - shot at a high f-stop was it?  ;)

Hi Tim,
The dramatic fall off in light might be due to something very rare in Texas.....Clouds. Lucky you. :)
It looks normal to me.

David, thanks for the comments. I'll have a go at the saturation. Yes there were dust spots on the sensor, although I thought I'd got them all with the spot healing brush (I love that tool!). More money spent on a Rocket Air blower.
As I owe you one (or two) here's what I did:
1 Feathered (25) selection of the sky.
2 Levels adj. layer. Slide left arrow to right to meet the pixels and slight tweak to right of midtone slider.
3 Still with the same selection, I adjusted the saturation -49 to suit.
Speak soon
