Since I left the race and didnt shoot qualifying, here are some shots from the multiple practice sessions they had. This was my first time trying to pan. It was harder than I thought since most of my photos didn't turn out that well.

The only thing that made my weekend a good one because of the "race" was meeting Jenson Button, Takuma Sato, and Tiago Monteiro at the airport.

Edit - These look more washed out than the prints I have. Maybe because they are under 100kb in order to post. end edit

I used a 20D with the 70-200 f4L on all of these.

Very nice! And again I'm curious as to where these were shot from. I was all over that track Friday and Saturday and I don't recall ever finding such great spots to shoot. I was at the hairpin a lot on Friday and over a couple viewing mounds... also the last corner before the backstretch.. there was a bit of a gap in the fence you had to be quick to shoot otherwise you'd either have the car covered up by a barrier or fence.

All day Saturday I sat atop the very end of the Vista overlooking turn 13. Talk about a difficult shot! One of the oddest and most difficult pans you'll ever come across due to the angle as well as speed (upwards of 180 mph at that point)

Wow, atleast you got some good shots out of the practice sessions.

The main places I shot from were turn 6 and turn 10. Both those turns have a slot in the fence for photographers. I also took some on top of the bleachers to get over the fence, and cropped it out.

Next year I need more telephoto. (If there is a next year that is.)
