Foreigner in London

Hi
I am a foreigner just arrived to London.
I would like to buy 2 lenses, maybe in second hand. But I would prefer to go to a store where I can see the lenses before I buy them. In London city what is the best/bigger/cheaper place where I can go?

They are just off Oxford St so easy to find.

There are a few shops within easy walk of Oxford St., but the prices are not that great. You may be lucky.

In New Oxford Street (just east of Tottenham Court Road tube and the Centre Point building) you've got the two best London camera stores opposite one another: Jessops and Jacobs.
I agree Camera World (Wells Street, off Oxford Street , 100 yards west of TCR tube) is probably the cheapest for new, but Jessops and (especially) Jacobs have far more used kit.

Don't expect B&H prices!!!

Thanks guys. I am not expecting BH prices since I'm portuguese. The prices here are far cheaper than in Portugal!

I'm stunned. I thought we were the most ripped of nation in the EU.
OH well, maybe we should give back the £3 Billion rebate after all. :?

In my experience, Jacobs would only let you *try* if the lens is already out of the box, otherwise they would be reluctant to let you *try* a new lens unless you had the intention to buy.
