Just picked up a 70-200 f/4L IS and was shooting around this past weekend and got these two that I really liked.

Let me know what you think -- thanks!!

I'm brand new to photography, but I'll say that I do like them. Not sure what the first one is, but I think it's cool looking. I like the second as well. Some might say it's too dark (underexposed?), but I actually like darker looking shots.

Nice work!

wow, hello to my next lens purchase... This is the imported or USA made model?

As the viewer, what am I supposed to be looking at in #1? A dead patch of leaves? I just don't see this shot as being strong enough in subject or story to hold the viewers attention.

#2 Technically underexposed, but it works here in the given setting(winter, no leaves on the trees). Again though I don't know that it's a particularly intersting shot. After all its a Beetle parked on a street.

Yes its a bunch of leaves on the ground that fell off the trees in the park. Just really liked the edit and the effect of the bokeh in the background trees.

Well its a very old and VERY clean beetle and like I said I was just walking around playing with the lens and seeing how sharp the images could be. I definitely need to calibrate my monitor because that shoot looks correctly exposed on some and underexposed on others.

#1 is an interesting point of view for a photograph. on a 2nd look the contrast was interesting with the light and shadows, nice capture.

#2 is also a nice capture, maybe slightly underesposed but being winter and everything is kind of washed out i think this is also a nice shot.

I like #2, hope you don't mind the processing... :) I thought it would be fun with an old school feel.

On #2, if your focus is on the beetle, then I find the area on the right confusing. If you're trying to capture cars, maybe moving to the right a bit would work better so one gets a sense of perspective from the vanishing row of parked cars.

love the beetle.

I like the edit of the beetle, but for such an old photograph it's pretty darn sharp :P

I actually really like this edit -- didn't even thinking of going that route.

I really like #2!

Yes my focus was on the beetle, but it was on the street so its hard to move it to change composition. I could've cropped a big tighter I guess though.

love the beetle.

HAHA -- I know, right?
