Two baby Jay chicks have left the nest and are being shown how to find food and generally look after themselves in the wild by their parents -- it's a beautiful thing to watch.

I think today was probably the biggest rainstorm that we've had since they were born and the parents haven't yet taught them to go and sit under something dry when it throws it down...

EOS 300D, 400mm f/5.6L, f/5.6, 1/50s ISO 400, tripod. Comments are welcome.

Ah you gotta feel sorry for him, he looks like a drowned rat. Great photo and I envy you being able to watch them, must be great.

LOL Omigawd.... he's fugly! ;):) They're actually quite handsome when they lose their downy chick fluff and get the full adult plumage ... and they're not soaking wet of course.

Great photo! I love photgraphing birds, but I've yet to have this experience. You're very lucky to have witnessed it. :)
