Levitating?

Hello all, I'm new here so bear with me if I come across as a bit novice concerning posting rules. Well, I ran across this attached photo of teen idol and, well...American Idol star David Archuleta. I'm wondering how this shot was accomplished. Did he jump, standing on plexiglass, or is it merely a very clever Photoshop job? Just curious. Thanks in advance!

Hi Taylor, welcome to the forum!

My guess is that he is sitting on a lightbox seat in a studio with a white background. I have seen these before and they have a flash head or lamp inside them. The light illuminates the underside of his jeans which is a small giveaway. The rest will be done in Photoshop to smooth out any light falloff.

That's my guess anyway.

It was a big thing for a while. Photographers would just swap out the frosted plexi with clear plexi on thier product table. Then shoot from below like in the Chase Jarvis video.

That is awesome! Now, how do I make room to store it and justify that kind of money, haha
