Anyone ever stop to capture approaches/takeoffs on the road that connects Allentown Road and Suitland Parkway? It seems to be public land but there are no parking signs on both shoulders. Had a C-17 almost leave tread on the roof of my SUV the other day there.

Bill, that road is still part of Allentown road, right down from the Classics. That's not that great of a place to be. First, PGPD & Andrews SFS, keep that area cleared out pretty well due to how visible the base is from there. Second, Rena road is just on the otherside of the beltway from where you're sitting. I've run many a shooting/stabbing/beating in that area. (My firehouse is about a half mile from this spot.) If you are looking for a safer area to watch arrivals & departures, my firehouse is at the corner of Penn & Old Marlboro Pike, directly in line with 01R. Arrivals are better than departures here, but you won't get hassled, mugged, robbed, or shot here, well, at least you shouldn't. On the southside of the base I really haven't found a great place (off base) to watch arrivals & departures up close. Stay safe, & happy spotting!

Odie:
My wife grew up on Grey Eagle right down from your station albeit 35 years ago. Her family has pics of several crashes in the area behind the firehouse.

Bill, Can you scan and post some of the photos? The old timers have told me stories of crashes in the area, but I'd love to see some photos.
