hey guys,
When I look at these photos, I knew it is shot from Nikon. In fact, it is from D40. The "clarity" is so good and yes better than my any pictures taken with Rebel XTi with Canon 24-105 mm L lens!!
I don't know why is that but I prefer the image quality of these! Could anyone explain why is that or elaborate more?
I would be very appreciated before I throw all my Canon gears for Nikon. Thanks.

Honestly, I don't see it, sorry. Just looks like two average snapshots which could be from any camera + lens.
If you like the way NIkon output looks, then by all means use them. Why wouldn't you?

I don't think there is anything special about either pic.

Yep... average snaps. I've seen much better shots taken with both Nikon and Canon gear. Other than that, kind of hard to respond any other way, given there's no EXIF, no info on what Canon gear you shoot with, and no info on what it is you shoot. You need to give a lot more information for anyone to be able to help you.

Any samples of the images with the Xti that seem to disappoint you ?
Did you try bumping up the stauration and sharpness in your picture styles ? I am not sure what kinds of controls the Xti has, but I am sure it allows you to change the in-camera processing (which defaults to conservative settings).
Switching over to Nikon might not be needed till you attempt to obtain the same look from your canon. If you cannot, by all means switch. Just get what works for you. Your money, might as well make it work for you.

On any given day you are going to be able to produce shots that you are happy with from both Nikon and Canon. Nikon makes some great gear and they hold a good chunk of the market with Canon. At the end of the day you go with the one you feel more confident about.

You waited 2 years to post a troll thread?
To be honest I think all cameras take pictures that look the same.

Nikon processes sharpness, color saturation, etc. differently then the Canon. You can get exact same results with some adjustments in PP. If you shoot JPG only and like how it looks better straight out of the camera, then perhaps it's a better choice for you. There are others that prefer the warmer look of Canon.

You have a post count of 1, so to make your debut you toss out the ol' overchromed trawling lures, crank up the Sea Horse trollin' mota and THIS is the best you can do?
Come ta think of it, I DO have a Nikeroid POS, er I mean PnS

It's Ken Rockwell in disguise. He loves the D40 and thinks it's the best camera out there.
Go away Ken. Away I say.

On a serious note, You can ahcieve vastly different results with Canons cameras just by changing the picture style defaults.
You too can have oversaturated colours and excessive shaprness.

I can't tell what camera took the picture, but what I do know is that the OP typed his post on a Mac.
