I've read that EF-S lenses don't work with FF cameras because of the protruding piece on the backside of the lens. Does this also affect the extension tubes too? This might seem like a stupid question, but I'd rather be safe than scratch my shutter.

Yeah, there's no elements inside them, they're just tubes.. so nothing to protrude.
They work just great on FF.

Agree with above- ext tubes work fine on FF - you can even use them to attach an EF-S lens like the 60mm to a FF camera.

just take note that the older version of kenko tubes with red dots... so it will be suitable for FF camera too. As for the newer kenko tubes, it has both red and white dots, hence suitable for EF and EF-S camera..

EF-S lenses work on a FF if you use macro tubes =)
