Sorry you aren't feeling well Chief.

And, I survived the great roll back of 2010.

lol Really I just cut down the people that either never post on my wall or I never post on theirs or both. It cuts down on things I have to read. I keep in touch with many people through fb though, so I saved them...just in case. Like say...Lisa...it's helpful to have her as a friend, just in case...:cool:

I DO have some news...my brother is in rehab. Voluntarily. I REALLY hope it sticks. I expect we'll go and visit soon. I haven't seen him in years but the rehab is close to us...don't know how it'll go but we're doing it.

Hi, folks.

I'm into my second week of hacking and wheezing. I'm feeling sorrier for the other people in the house than myself. I've imposed self-exile on myself so Lois can get some sleep. I'm spending nights in the family room on the sofa. It's better that way. (Besides, I'm closer to the fridge.)

My sooper dooper new toaster oven appears to be defective. It toasts for about a couple minutes, then shuts down with an error message on the display. Of course this isn't covered in their manual, but an exchange of emails today has them trying to convince me the circuit it's plugged into probably doesn't have enough oomph. That's crazy; it's in the kitchen, and it worked fine for over a week plugged into the same outlet. Just to test their silly theory, I hauled it out to the garage where there is nothing plugged in, and it had the same problem. Guess I'll return it when I'm feeling better.
Evening Chief.
Hope you get better soon...you've been hacking up your lungs for days now.
Sucks about the toaster oven....I remember when they had dials and no display to show error codes.

Melting yellow snow doesn't make it lemon flavored.

I showed a couple over time. But he is the one my height, not the skinny 6'-4" one.
I was thinking of the long haired Jim shot. Now I remember, the shorter one. Has he bought his sports car yet?

Tequila or rum.
nice choices...I'd go with the rum personally.

Permie, I hope its far easier than any of us ever expect that sort of thing to be. That's good news that he checked himself in voluntarily. Has there been any word on lasting physical effects of his hospitalization? (hoping there will be none)

It's not from the bite. Not unless the wrist bone is connected to the snot bone. It's just a sinus infection that started last week after visiting my step mother. She had to put her dog to sleep the next day and she was chain smoking like they were going to be illegal soon.

I just saw my cousin's wedding photos taken by the "pro" photographer. Let me just say, I really really really really hope that the 65 shots she posted on her FB photo album are the rejected, non-processed, photos from the guy. She was supposed to get a disc of shots from him included in her package. No comparison from folks I see post on POTN and here in TPBM. And this after his backup had her gear stolen the very same evening of the wedding when the second shooter went home and left ALL the cards in the gear bag instead of giving them to the lead photog. He gave my cousin $500 off for that.

We really don't know what happened, because they were unsupervised when it happened.

He got some nasty bites on his face/head, and ripped his toe almost off.

The only mark on one of the other dogs out there was a little cut on his ear.

Kirby has shown no tendencies towards fighting at all here.
We are wondering if he got his foot caught in something out there, and while freaking out maybe got one of the other dogs all worked up? *shrugs* Who knows.

Big benefit concert. We are on the marquis  which is on a main road.

4 bands playing, lots of fun. Good music.
This place even has a liquor license.

One of the things we are doing is putting donation envelopes on the tables with the dogs' names on them. I think we are doing some sort of fun interactive type thing with them. (along the lines of... "we have this (whatever) to give away to the first person to put a donation into one of Luna's envelopes!)
The guy that is going to be the emcee is really fabulous with getting the crowd involved, and we are really hoping to raise a lot of funds at this event.

Anyone want to come? Tickets are only $10. ;)
Very kewl!!! Hope you rake in lots a moola! :D

Hope you start to feel better soon Chief and that you get the problem with the toaster oven worked out.

I would otherwise suggest a smoothie, but the throwing up part doesn't sound like he could handle it.

Eli was feeling sick to his stomach earlier, the tummy ick has been creeping thru his school, but fortunately he felt fine a little while later. I am off to my moms house for a few days tomorrow and having him be d me exposed would NOT be a good thing at all.

Will be sending out prayers your way Crissa. Hope everything goes well for your Mom today.

Sorry you aren't feeling well Chief.

I am going out for 3A.M. pancakes.I use snowshoes to give the dogs somewhere to walk around without snow up to the tips of their tails.

County just sent front end loaders around to clear one of the streets we front on. We're parked on the other one, where they moved the snow to. I suspect our sidewalk won't be clear until mid-March at the earliest. I had to dig the cars out again once they were through, though since they blocked the storm drain (and we're at the downhill end of the street) I'd opened up yesterday, I'm thinking of offering the street to Vancouver OOC as a venue for the preliminary rounds of the hockey competitions. A couple of freeze-thaw cycles and we'll have a lake there. It was running down the gutter at something like a gallon per minute yesterday.

Blocked drains are a no no and lead to flooding fast.

Off to buy new tires for the jeep.Yeah. I decided shoveling the back yard was just ridiculous. Also for trips to restock the bird feeders, take out the recycling (doesn't go out front, so I can't use the front walk; it goes out on the "side" street).

Probably. We're at the low end of the block and all the water runs down into our yard, then seeps out onto the sidewalk where (if the county doesn't come back and open up the storm drain they just dumped a mountain of snow & ice over) it'll form a massive lake all across the road by our front walk.

No, I just bought it from B&H. I've been looking for a used one all week but didn't manage to find one.

you know, it's funny. I was thinking today how weird Dan and I are with gear. We certainly don't conform to "this is the best because it cost the most" mentality.

I LOVED the 70-200 F4IS. More than any other 70-200 I tried before or after it. Actually almost more than any other lens (not quite but almost...it's in the top 4) I've owned.

I completely preferred the less expensive 17-40 over the uber costly 16-35II.

I loved the 5D more than any other canon camera I owned (the Ds2 was up there with it). Both old technology. While things bothered me about them (dust in the 5D/noise & small screen in the ds2) I was crazy about the IQ.

Dan just swears by the tamron 28-75. Loves that lens.

Even now, I prefer the sigma 50 1.4 to the high priced "best of" nikon primes. Which is good because Dan prefers the "best of" nikon 85 1.4 so it works out in our kit.

It's just weird. I watch people out in the forums striving to "get that expensive L" and think...if you only knew.

Nikon just came out with a 24 1.4. It's listed at over $2k. I have a sigma 24 1.8. It's IQ is very good but it's slower focusing in low light. BUT I paid $325 for it. That's a huge difference for very similar IQ.

I think I'm catching a cold. I don't want to catch one. I think it's wrong to pursue something that I don't want.

I can only assume that the photos were taken at different times, plus I am sure he is standing in a little ditch - the guy is 5'11 tall....either that or he is happily sitting in the stuff.

Either way, plenty of snow :)
