Afternoon folks :D

Nice wall hangers posted up so far. Loverly.

You know, I'm gonna have to stop using Chrome....it's not like FF which saves the posts I quote . Sorry, had some quoted and now they are all gone since I closed the browser thinking they'd be saved. *sigh*

The HTC Eris Droid thinger.
Ah, you got the Droid Eris. I think Mrs. Ick got that one too.
Did you find the email I sent you helpful?

Now I need song ideas for ringtones for some of you.
Look up Zedge.net
I've found some nice ones there.

I still need a good monkey one for Heather. I had one on my last phone, but haven't found one for my EnV yet.
Hope this search link works for you.....Monkey Ringtones --> LINKY (http://www.zedge.net/ringtones/0-0-1-monkey%20sounds/?searchphr=monkey%20sounds&searchcat=ringtones&sug-search=1)

And now for something completely different:
The boy is potty training ....
"What are you doing in here with a camera? Sheesh!"
Reading while on the toilet...

We didn't actually go through there. And the flightless cormorants are endemic (and unique) to the Galapagos. Sally Lightfoot crabs are everywhere around the shore there (as are Galapagos Sea Lions).

My google contacts and calendar are synced to mine. It's a handy feature.I love that my contacts on my phone and google are synced! I find it very helpful!

I'm glad you had fun! Sounds like you've really made a pact with yourself to have fun this year!

I am attempting to be more social... I am not a very socially outgoing person, so I find myself very lonely now that I'm divorced and not in any kind of relationship... I also realized that when I was in a relationship my friendships tended to be tied to the person I was seeing... therefore when that ends... typically so do the friendships... So I'm determined not to let that happen again. I wouldn't care a bit in the world if we went from bar to bar or if we went and hung out at a friends house for game night... I am just making sure that doesn't happen again...

G'MAE *squish* It's quite rainy here... and we've even managed to score a Tornado warning a bit ago... Supposedly there were even funnel cloud sightings about a 10 min drive from my house... *squish* And there's still more to come... I'd say that it's unusual to get tornado warnings here in the mountains... But seeing as we've had several over the last 12-18 months.... doesn't seem so unusual any more... a new normal perhaps...

Did I mention it raining??:p

it's a good game so far :)

I'm enjoying it. I'd LOVE to see the Vikings win. But if the Saints win I still think it'll be a good super bowl. The only team (sorry Crissa) that I didn't think deserved to be in the big game was the Jets. They wouldn't have even made the playoffs if the Colts hadn't pulled all their starters in week 16.

We are pretty much the same with our little friend group here at home....almost everyone we know or spend time with, their kid goes to Evan's school. We lose contact with the families after they pull their children out of the school. Then there are the friends we've known since college...which are like 2 people left...all others we lost touch with since college. A lot of it is that people that we hung with that did not have kids, had less and less contact with us until eventually none at all...because we were always doing something with the school.

Very That^^^^ Bobert!

Mike was asking about whether I thought the 7D was sharp. Well, if I use a fast enough shutter speed, or a solid support, it's sharp.

All these are DPP RAW conversions with zero sharpening beyond what comes in the "Faithful" Picture Style.

And I get to rebuild the Toshiba - HDD seems to have completely packed up - Even BartPE won't let me recover from it.To expand a little on Mike's question on why people may be calling the 7D "soft"; most people (DUH!) "pixel-peep". At 100% crop, a 5D2 image has the same resolution as a 20D image. The 7D has almost twice the pixel density of a 5D2, in 40% of the space. So looking at a 100% crop of a 7D is almost like looking at a 250% crop of a 20D or 5D2 image. Ya think that may make a difference?

The 40D is only about 20-25% more pixels (depending on how you calculate it) than the 20D; not going to make that big a difference. It should look about like a 1D3 at 100% crop.

That appears so, but I would think that if it did in fact have flesh colored undersomething, it would wrinkle the same as the dress would outside. Right? Like if it was sewn on the inside of the dress.

Cute!!! LOL
My new social group is made up mostly of divorcees (is that a word?) In otherwords... we're all divorced or in various stages of separation/divorce... LOL

All these are DPP RAW conversions with zero sharpening beyond what comes in the "Faithful" Picture Style.

Cool looking birds!

To expand a little on Mike's question on why people may be calling the 7D "soft"; most people (DUH!) "pixel-peep".

Thanks, I was thinking of using a 7D with a 100-400 to shoot birds in flight... at a distance that often requires heavy cropping. From what I'm hearing, it sounds like a 7D might not be a good choice for me.

Jon
24th of January 2010 (Sun), 22:34
I'd say, based on my experiences (limited though they are so far), the 7D could do it, but you'd want something more than the 100-400, like a 400 2.8, 500 f/4 (or the Sigma 4.5), or longer on a monopod. The f/5.6 is a killer. And you're not going to get anything better than the 7D for heavy cropping until the next round of xD releases.

I always mean to do it but forget.I'm so searching some of these when I fiddle with the phone next!!! Had to get back to "work" shortly after posting that...

I'm sitting here in my flannel pj's, drinking Kona coffee from my Permie mug, watching the playoff game. It's the small things in life that make me very happy. That sounds nearly like heaven. Was the volume down pretty far, for relative quiet?

When Lorraine calls me, it's "Who let the dogs out".

Wall-E noise? I wanna hear it...

THIS (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MoA1K3KZtz0) is my favorite ring tone.

I still need a good monkey one for Heather. I had one on my last phone, but haven't found one for my EnV yet.I love that ringtone still, but I'm a little tired of it. lol!

At the end of the red carpet were these four young ladies, shown here with actor Cliff Robertson.

http://johnwright.smugmug.com/Other/Upload-gallery/IMG100-7534-40D/772770789_2EjNE-XL.jpg

After the lady in question passed by, one of them asked me if I had ever seen the "Manswers" show. Apparently, the show tried to address the question of whether "enhancements" would float...

BTW, they had no idea who Cliff Robertson was until I asked them if they had seen "Spiderman." When I explained they just had their picture taken with Peter Parker's uncle, they were all excited.

Kinda like the Chargers?

Not to take anything away from Phillip Rivers (he's a great QB) but if the Saints win the Superbowl, it will be the second time a Chargers castoff has taken a different team to the championship. The first was whiney Eli and although he never played in San Diego he was technically a Charger for about an hour.

That's what I really dislike about NFL OT. Win the toss and get to within FG range and you win.

That's what I really dislike about NFL OT. Win the toss and get to within FG range and you win.

It's especially unfair, because the defense is more susceptible to fatigue after a long, hard game. If the team that wins the coin toss scores on the first possession, the other team should at least have one opportunity to score themselves.

I never liked sudden death. It was done for the TV broadcasters so they could get on to scheduled programming as soon as possible.

nope, no change. Thank you for asking.

I am sorry Lisa. I will keep him in my prayers.

D- great photos but hard to believe that she is only in the 8th grade. Tell Hubby "Hi" for me.

The next round of xD releases, and the 400 2.8, 500L, etc. are all out of my price range. :( I guess I'll have to make do with what I can afford, and be happy with it!:D:D:D

Ben Parker!! That's right! I was wondering where I've seen that guy before.

One of his better roles was that of John F. Kennedy in PT-109 (1963). Apparently he was personally selected by Kennedy to play the role.

Yes please. JOHN!!!! I'd really like a copy, please!

Not a problem. Let's get together on Skype tomorrow and I'll send it to you.

I agree it's not a perfect system and the other team should have an equal chance, but as you said it's all about keeping the broadcasters happy. After all, the NFL is a business whose largest source of revenue is television.

How do they do OT is the NFL? In the CFL the teams take turns scrimmaging on the 35, until someone scores higher (they each get the same number of tries). In regular season games, they only do two possessions each, then a tie is awarded if nothing is settled.
TI did, only to design the 1 dress for you to wear :p:lol:
What a nice guy.
Cute little chickapoo...she's in 8th grade. She does not LOOK like she's in 8th grade and is as tall as I am!!

The rest are here if interested: http://www.dbimpressions.com/Client-Galleries/Monica
Very nice, Di. She does look to be near 18 to me too.
Related to Dan's toons...hubby decided that if we meet up with a bunch of you and he's there, you're all going to have to have signs or shirts or something with your TR characters so that he can tell you all apart.
 My Lisa said pretty much the same thing when we headed to Oregon, having only met Cat's family and seeing all the cartoons Dan drew.

They toss a coin, the winner gets first possession, first score wins.:(

That does sound pretty unfair. Where do they start the possession at?

The team that loses the ball kicks off.

Well, that does not sound quite as bad as what I was thinking. Though there is definitely an huge advantage to winning the toss.

Sudden death makes sense in hockey, but not in football.

Very true. They should at least play for a certain length of time, like 15 minutes or something. With the CFL method I have only seen a couple games tie after 2 sets of downs from the 35.

Yay!

Not exactly the perfect system, but I doubt anyone in New Orleans is complaining right at the moment. I have a feeling opinions vary according to whether your team won or lost in OT...

Hopefully, he'll retire for good...

I'm looking at the celebration on Bourbon Street on TV, I'm pretty sure they like sudden death, it looks like Mardi Gras on steroids. Actually the team that won the coin toss won 8 times against 6 for the team that lost the toss.

Brett only has about 60 miles to drive home if he decides to retire, it would beat that long sad plane ride home to the frozen north.
