John how are your hummingbirds doing? I saw the picture of the new hatch lings.

Eric, they are getting big. John said their beaks are approaching about 1/2" long and they are crowding Mom out - she is perched on top. John said that he would try to get some more photos this weekend.

^^That... I was a bit worried because she wasn't on the nest when I went to bed last night and wasn't on it this morning. Apparently she was out foraging because I saw her feeding the babies this afternoon and she was on the nest when we let the dog out a little bit ago.

I looked at the babies this afternoon and they are getting big. It won't be long before mom is crowded right off the nest.

OK, a lot of the Olympic stuff tonight has been overshadowed by the tragic luge accident earlier today. I have to let you know that in the TROlympics, I do have a luge series and in the skeleton series, the rider does fly off the track. I drew these waaaay before the accident today and when they are posted in the upcoming week, I don't mean any disrespect to the family or team mates of the victim, nor do I post them with a flippant and callous heart.

Dan! Love the Trolympics. I was very moved by the lighting ceremony and hope the swiss will get the number of gold they deserve ;-)

I know you guys want to know the identities of the judges, but, really, I don't think that is in the best interest of the games. Perhaps, after the games are over and if they desire to do so, they may reveal themselves. Until then, I think that I should respect Lonnie's, Deb's, Heather's and John's wishes.

Completely understandable...

okay, I feel much worse today...coughed a lot last night...hardly slept etc.

Sorry! I hope you'll be soon feeling better!

*sigh* I love this view. I have stayed in a house for a weekend that backs up to the cemetery this picture is taken from. I have spent countless hours fishing, swimming, and sleeping on the banks of that river only a couple miles up river from that view. The Shenandoah and Potomac converge there. You are looking at the Potomac and our playground is up the Shenandoah to the right. My friends dad had a little cabin on a few acres above the river and we spent most weekends in the summer up that way when we were teens. On the other side of the cabin from the river we could walk to an abandoned quarry and quarry town. Most days we would have the whole quarry to ourselves as access from the road was blocked. We used it as a swimming hole, play ground, shooting range, and blow it up place. We could do whatever we wanted without drawing attention and often made quite a bit of noise seeing what the biggest explosion we could make or just letting loose with a bunch of guns. The river was quiet with only the occasional outdoors person, fisherman, or backwoods local quietly coming by. Today the river is over run by screaming, stupid city folk on rented inner tubes and rafts. Thousands of them pour down the river leaving trash, scaring the fish, and ruining the serenity of the river:( I am really lucky to have grown up in the city but with such a huge place to go be free.

Having dealt with this in my own life Lisa, it'll be ok.

When folks get sober they are still on what's called a "dry drunk" phase for the first 4-6 months, and then the fog really clears after that. He might be a little loopy when you see him today, but I don't predict he'll be mean.

Hang in there, we're rooting for ya! :)

HOLY CRAP!! Words escape me.
Ever since the "Janet Jackson Wardrobe Malfunction" on that infamous Super Bowl Halftime show a few years ago, there are new rules in place for "live" broadcasts. There has to be a delay between what's actually happening and what's seen by the unwashed public here in the US. With so many different nations and cultures, the FCC has decided that a few hours buffer is plenty safe for us. That way, if the nation of Uzbekistan does that whole "Full Moon For Full Luck" maneuver again, we will be spared.
LOL!

And when he responded "yes Sir' to you, I about choked on my drink.
ROFLOL!

Just wanted to say that disclaimer.

Carry on.
You rock, Dan.

We're off to an old-age benefit tonight. We have tickets to go see Johnny Mathis at the local casino. THE OLD CODGER IS 75 YEARS OLD!!!.

Normally I wouldn't go feeling the way I do, but we have box seats, so it's a simple matter to slip out in the hallway if the coughing starts.

I actually enjoy these old guys. They can still deliver, and they've been doing it a long time, so they're pretty polished. We're going to see Tony Bennett again next month.

7-0 Canada over Slovakia after the first period in women's hockey. Pretty one sided, the score could have been even worse. Kudos to the Slovakians for their efforts, and hopefully they will build a better team in years to come. I guess they only have 300 women playing in the leagues there, not a lot to draw from.

Guess that's what you get for being hopeless romantics . . .

Hope you had a can of Dinty Moore Beef Stew around to make do :{)#

:lol::lol: No, but I had chips and salsa, dinner of champions.

Curt ate pizza at the cast party.

We did our Valentine's Day thing last weekend to avoid the crowds.

Happy Anniversary to you and Curt, Becky. :D

Thanks Jim it was actually almost 2 weeks ago.

I surprised, I never realized they had radio back then. ;)

:p :p :p

Do you have any newer shots?

No. I was going to take some today, but by the time I got back from my club shoot, my enthusiasm had disappeared.

2 words Chief - Gel Caps - Nyquil in gel capsules - no taste and woks just as well.

OK, I eat some unusual things, but I never heard of woking Nyquil...

Final 18-0... I have to admire Slovakia's goalie, though. Over 80 shots on goal by Canada and only 18 got through...

She was definitely their top player. I think the whole team was excited just to be there at all.

AWESOME TORCH LIGHTING CEREMONY!!!

WOO HOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I concur!

I know you guys want to know the identities of the judges, but, really, I don't think that is in the best interest of the games. Perhaps, after the games are over and if they desire to do so, they may reveal themselves. Until then, I think that I should respect Lonnie's, Deb's, Heather's and John's wishes.

*snort*

Becca and I went on a date to the Cheesecake factory tonight. Bec ordered Mahi Mahi and I ordered a fish fry. Our waitress went to pick up our meals and another waiter had taken my meal. She was all apologetic and said a new one would be up right away delivered by the manager. It showed up not 3 minutes later with an apology from the manager. At the end of the meal we got our bill and the waitress said she got them to pay for our entire meal. So Bec and I ordered and paid for 2 deserts to go and gave the waitress a $20 tip. We had a lot of fun joking around with her, she was awesome!

Now that's customer service!

Nice!

CAT congrats on the adoptions.

Just waving hi.

Haven't caught up yet. But I have a question? Is the 5D II weather sealed? as in will it do ok in light rain etc...? This is what it says on B&H. "In addition the camera body incorporates extensive dust and weatherproofing features including seals and gaskets where body panels and/or camera controls meet. " But does that mean only parts of it are sealed? or is it good for in the rain/snow?

Paula, I had my 20D out in light rain all the time. All my cameras have got rained on during use, next for a extended time, but where they definitely need wiping off, and have never had an issue. The 5DII and the 7D are supposed to be sealed a bit better though.

So, they aren't totally weather sealed than like the 1D series?

The 1D series bodies have more extensive sealing....but I've used my D30 and 20D in some pretty soggy weather....just wiped them off occasionally and went back to shooting.

Many of them are....some (like the 17-40) require the addition of a filter for a complete seal.

Hi Zane. Did you get some rest yet?

Hi Everyone. All caught up and hi.

CAT: I don't always reply to all your H.A.R.T. reports, but it is thrilling to hear of your successes. You certainly work hard to achieve them.

We're going to see Tony Bennett again next month.Have fun!

Very good news, look forward to hearing all about your evening.

Hi, Hello, we're back, no anniversary dinner though.:( Earliest reservation for the place we wanted was 9:30. I sort of forgot this is Valentine's weekend. :rolleyes:Darn, we went out at ten ;)

If you are real worried....snag a loaf of bread....toss the bread to the birds....and use the bag for a makeshift rain cover. Cut a hole in the end and slip the lens through....put a rubber band around it....just roll the back end sort of closed when you aren't using it....undo when you are ready to shoot.

Here's hopin'. Enjoy your stay at Quanah, which, by the way, is an Cherokee word for "Turtle Falling Off Horse." Just thought you'd want to know that little bit of trivia there.

HAHAHAHAHHAAAA!!!!!! thankfully I didn't have to get on a horse. When we got there, the guy asked when the last time we were on a horse. After finding out (me it's been over 20 yrs ago) he said we may not want to. If an accident were to happen there was no hospital close. So, he did things with the dogs that we could watch and not be on horses.

Have fun, pretty hard to fall off a horse. :D

For those of you that have met John, you are going to find my next statement hard to believe, but I was child sitting for my neighbor after her sitter cancelled. I spent three hours over there and the kid never stopped talking - the whole time.

Paula and Dan - I sent the Lollipop a friend request - he is on my page if you want to send a request.

What an AWESOME night. Just amazing.

We are wiped out, but still elated.

It couldn't have gone any better. WOW.

The place we had the event can (legally) hold 120 people. And only about 100 somewhat comfortably.
By the end of the night, we had 136 people by counting ticket stubs.

THAT is amazing. Just freaking amazing.

The music was great, the food and service was awesome. The donations were WOW.

Greatly surpassed any of our wildest hopes.

*glows*
