I like this photo and have to decide between the color or B&W. I lean toward the color, but a few others that I've asked (non-photogrphers) like the B&W. (This is a Photobucket link, so the resolution is less than stellar.) Thanks for any input! :)

The color is nicer and helps separate the foreground from the background better.

Too funny -- I did another poll on a (non-photography) site and they all say B&W. Again, none of them are photographers. Well, I'll have to go with the experts here! (And my gut.) :)

I do like the color.and maybe a crop to the side of the smaller outbuilding to get that tree off dead center.

Meh, I like the starkness of the B&W personally.

Good idea. Thanks. I like that building, but that tree does bug me a little. :D

It really depends on your intention for the shot. That you're asking the question makes me wonder if you're not sure about it. Snow is white. So to ask if a shot should be monochrome or color is to ask about the other stuff in it. That would be the building. If the building is your subject, then your composition could use some touching up. First of all, that tree smack in the middle of it just ruins it. I'm not one to advocate cutting down a tree. Perhaps you could find another viewpoint or get closer and go wide. The center composition is another difficulty; it's considered bland. I also think that an angled shot rather than dead-on portrays almost any subject in a more pleasing way.
It looks like a nice location and a building with character. I'll bet that if the weather gives you another opportunity for this subject that you could find a great image in it if you explored it thoroughly.

Thanks. You are right. I was focusing on taking photos of the snow, but the addition of the building caught my interest. Unfortunately, it was on private property, or I would have loved to have gotten out of my car and shot around that tree. I could try to shoot from a different angle from the road, though. It's one of a series, so I am happy to just let it go altogether -- the only reason I have thought about keeping it is because the building (and color) made it different from the rest in the series. Thanks so much for all the feedback!

Colour!
And I like the individual buildings best, especially the last one.
