Your shooting style is similar to mine. I rely heavily on composition and strong shapes with my images.

I just spent the better part of an hour going through the entire series on the link provided, and wow, just wow... stunning images. I really encourage everyone else to check out that link because 8 shots simply doesn't even begin to convey what a wonderful job was done here. This is what travel photography is about.

1-6 are drivable. Few of them are between 4-6 hours apart.
Goa is in the middle of the country and Kerela is at the bottom-most section. The areas are very distinctly different.
1. Delhi is very city like, sort of like a New York city of India.
2. Agra is sort of a small town area, that has a huge tourist population due to the Taj Mahal. Not much else there really except Fatehpur Sikri, which i'd advise skipping if you are a tourist.
3. Jaipur, well known for Astrology and Silver. Jewelry is also popular here. Part of Rajasthan, very colorful and cultural.
4. Udaipur is a lake town. This was actually my favorite city. It's popular with tourist for being easy to navigate and particularly safe (India is pretty safe in general, we walked around with almost 20k in gear). Though check what time of year to go, because the lake goes empty during the summer months. And again, part of Rajasthan, so lots of color and culture.
5. Jodhpur, is the blue city. Now you are starting to get near the visible desert area. Dusty but very nice. Bellbottoms started here , of all places. Lots of stone and silver work done here as well. And again, part of Rajasthan, so lots of color and culture.
6. Jaisalmer, fairly close to Pakistan border (But completely safe). Desert area. Camel rides are popular here. Osian is also a relatively nearby town that is popular with overnight desert stays. Where you stay out in a tent in the desert. Quiet and dark. And you ride camels back to the city. There is a decent military presence in this town...but it's not overbearing at all.And again, part of Rajasthan, so lots of color and culture.
7. Goa, it's a hippie's paradise. Beach area, laid back. Tropical. Beautiful and lots of Portuguese culture. They settled here, way back when. This area was featured in the Borne Identity movies.
8. Kerela. Kerela is known for it's backwaters. Which are a series of canals that have beautiful tropical birds, wildlife, easy farm living. Breathtaking scenery. Most people rent a house boat down here and take advantage of waking up in a different area each morning. Make no mistake about these house boats, they are fully equipped! A/C, nice beds and tv's and internet!
We drove all the way up until Jaisalmer. From that point we flew to Goa and then flew to Kerela. Hope that helps!

I'm part-way through the online gallery and I am BLOWN AWAY by so many of the photos. I especially love the architectural ones, the composition and level of crisp detail of the carving is simply amazing. And on top of that, now I need to go get Indian food tomorrow for lunch! :)

Thanks, i try not to do it in too many, but some just beg for it. It's mostly layering along with typical HDR...

Checked out the entire set, and... wow, just stunning. No other way to describe it.
It's been nearly 20 years since I've visited the northern part of India, long before I took a real interest in photography, and this set makes me wish I was there now with a camera.
Great work, and just the right amount of PP.

I am sure there must be something special about his 5D Mark II or 24-70mm L or any other equipment that he's using as he's able to capture that was simply not there

Well beauty is in the eye of the beholder as they say... I think it's a very beautiful country. Sure, there is trash strewn about, but there is so much more to a country than its outward appearance. The people really make it for me. Some folks whom have next to nothing, but they are much happier than i am. Makes you rethink your life here in the USA. or any first-world country.
That's my take, at least.

Madhu: I apologize, sincerely, if my comment came across as insulting. That wasn't my intention - it was simply my opinion. I'm not saying that India is without its beauty - I'm just saying that usually, at least to me, it's beauty is overshadowed by the devastating sights of immense poverty, corruption and human rights issues. It was refreshing to see India in another light. But it's also a little deceptive. When I go to India this summer, to visit some family, I plan to take my camera to try and capture some of India's issues.. the poverty.. the streets .. the people.

Not a problem :) I am from India and I know what it is. However, IMO there is no need for that as it is photo forum not where you discuss those things or issues. IMO that will not be appropriate here.

I was responding to your comment. I'm not looking to start a debate.
