i did read some reviews but have some question in regards to this lens.I will love to get one of these f2.8 but they are pricey. was thinking about getting f4.0 instead

the f4.0 version is great for outdoors. I have used mine in a brightly lit area and shot at 3200 ISO but that is pushing it to the max.

shoot in decent light and you will be quite happy.
this has got to be the closest lens to a prime in the same focal length i've ever seen.

Yep a lot of us have that lens. You won't regret buying this lens.

Great lens ... and all totally valid points above. No good for taking bird shots in the woods though. I tried it ... too dark!
