a wide angle lens helps to reduce apparent camera shake. do you have any footage that utilizes a 24mm or a 35mm lens? And even with the wide angle lens that you used, there is still a lot of easily noticeable shakes in the video.

To me this looks great. Sturdyshots, can you please give some details as to how you did this and what it cost you? I am in need of a way to take videos while walking around cars and they need to be steady.

Hi!
thanks for answer!
my website is onlne, so just google it! Enjoy
Anyway I have some footage without WD lens (Naked Hv30 which means 43,6mm)

Of course, without WD is less steady;)

Here's a big question I have. You're using the Merlin there. Can it be tilted up and down during use? Like while you were walking down the stairs would it have been possible for you to aim the camera down while using the Merlin?

Hi...no I'm not using the Merlin there but my system. Of course you can tilt while using it...here's a vid with me using it:

what's the max weight your sturdycam can handle?
i bought the hague but my setup is about twice as heavy as recommended weight.
i have t2i, videomic, tokina 116, hoodman loupe, and manfrotto quick release plate.
do you think your setup can work with mine?

I spent many hours trying to create my own steadicam based on the merlin concept. It ended up very heavy and the entire spine of the system began flexing and vibrating under the counter-weights.
My problem is I only have a Kodak Zi8 (same size roughly as a flip cam). Will this work with your Sturdycam?

Hello,
I recommend not to mount more than 2Kg on top...you can mount more but your back will disagree...
for heavy rig the threaded extension pipe is good: it allows to put less weight at the bottom...like in this vid here using a Canon 7D:

It's not a problem of too heavy, it's a problem of too light. The kodak weighs only 110g. (3oz.)

oh...if it's too light you can put washers on the horizontal shaft
