My first attempt at anything like this. I only have 1 flash and no soft-boxes or diffusers or anything like that. Composed of 2 shots (one for the bottle and one for the labels) and taken on top of a bar counter with a white piece of foam-board behind. I tried doing water droplets, but I couldn't get it to look "right".
Thoughts and advice greatly appreciated.

VERY nice, I really like it, for a first, that is pretty danged good!
I would think though, when you look at it, you need to make it round, so that'd be a highlight on the front, preferably off to the right, or left, your preference.
That will make it more round to our eyes.
The label is slightly crooked too, it's not really noticeable, but if you look really hard... :)
I really like it though, that is sharp looking to me.

Where did you place the flash in this picture? I would think that there would be a pretty bad reflection if it was direct.

Well, I took 3 different pics (not 2 as stated in my first post- sorry).
One for the body of the bottle. In this one, the flash was directly above the bottle, aimed at the white foam-board behind it. This gave 2 small reflections and a couple more tiny ones that were easily erased in PS.

This looked pretty good, but the labels were all too dark so I did a bare, direct flash at low power straight onto the bottle. I also held the flash high here, so that the reflection would be just below the neck, not over the label.

This was good for the labels on the body of the bottle, but the one on the neck still had glare.I tried a bunch of different angles and none of them really worked that well, so I ended up bouncing the flash off the foam-board which I relocated to about 45 to the right of the bottle.

I then combined them all in PS, added a gradient to make the transition from poster-board to bar-top less noticeable, cleaned up a few bits and pieces and then extended the background on the left right and top.

Haha yeah for sure, could kill for a beer. Not really the weather for it here unfortunately.

Awesome shot for first time, much better than expected. I agree about the dimensionality of the bottle; it should look more round.
