Well you got to 1st base. The sky and light is generally very lovely.


But you need to look for subjects that can be surrounded by other compositional elements that will let our eyes gravitate towards your image.

- The lake is just too vast ( am I don't see any windsurfers, etc)
- The highway is not so interesting -- but the light is great.
- The row of trees has mood, but the telephone lines tie it down.

If you want to test, you must have a test environment. I suggest you take ONE picture with the same subject and only THEN play with the settings. Process these pictures with the same workflow and check for differences.
