I just purchased my 20d on wednesday along with a 4gb hitachi microdrive so that will work. Some will say microdrive are the best. But I wasnt looking for speed. I wanted storage. But yes a 4gb will work.

Buy many is better then buy large. One fail all fail, if you only have one. 1 or 2 GB is a good size to have. Dell is currently having a 25% off sale on CFs. 1GB Sandisk Ultra II for $75.00. check this site: http://accessories.us.dell.com/sna/productdetail.aspx?c=us&l=en&s=dhs&cs=19&sku=A0364610

The largest CF available is 8GB. Do yourself a favor skip the MDs they are very fragil.

For myself, I like the 1gb cards. I thought of going with a larger card, but after downloading a 1gb card full of RAW images, I decided against a 2 or 4gb card. It took some time to download a 1gb, not bad, but I can only imagine the download time of a 4gb card full of RAW images. I bought 6 of the Sandisk Extreme III cards off of ebay for around $100 ea., and 4 Ultra II 1gb SD cards for around $70 ea. I use them in my 20D and 1DMKII. Very happy with the 1gb cards. And if anything ever went wrong, I have plenty of back up.

1GB and/or 2GB cards is what I'd recommend for reasons stated above: avoiding "all your eggs in one basket" and download speed.
Just make sure their read/write speeds are not going to hold you back.

i have 1GB and two 512K cards and one of the 512K corrupted and I did not lose all the pics - so I will always go for smaller.
Imanaged to recover the images in the end

Sandisk Ultra II cards all the way................I prefer the 1GB cards.
