Just wondering how many of you work with either a monopod or tripod exclusively ? or use a litte of all and your reasons for doing so.....Just curious, because I find myself using the Monopod more and more.....

I rarely use either, but will when needed due to light levels. If birding from a hide I will use one if I want to keep the lens trained on a specific spot, otherwise I handhold all the way.
I find that they stop me from moving around exploring angles so much as there is all the adjusting each time.
All my longer lenses are IS though and my heaviest two are 100-400L and 300 f/2.8L, both of which are readily handholdable.

Thanks for the reply.....I m shooting alot with Primes , and they dont have the IS feature, which I think all new lenses should have. Alot of times handheld i m missing some of my shots, (usually the ones i really wanted, LOL).....

A good tripod can be invaluable. If your in a studio wheels on a tripod help you move about, and honestly tripods can be mastered very quickly. They are tremendously helpful in achieving the exposure you want when it becomes too extreme in one or more exposure variables. Have never tried a monipod for glamor/nude might give it a try.

usually neither because I usually have enough light to shoot a decent shutter speed.

This. I always shoot hand-held.

I use a Monopod quite often, the Mk111 plus the 70-200 lens gets a bit heavy after a while, you really feel it after 2-3 hrs shooting.

The answer is.....it depends. I almost never use a monopod but I have and sometimes still use a tripod.
