Canon Teleconvertor with Sigma Lens

In general will a Canon Teleconverter work with a Sigma lens?

Also more specifcally, will the Canon Teleconverter EF 1.4x II work with the Sigma 180mm f/3.5 EX APO Macro DG HSM for Canon AF. Im reading and the Sigma4less site says "The HSM model lenses can be used with Sigma's 1.4X EX teleconverter as a 252mm f/4.9 lens, with Sigma, Canon and Nikon AF cameras, providing AF function from infinity to about 47 inches. "

Both makes of the teleconverters are nearly identical and should work on any sigma or canon lens designed to work with a tele.
