I don't know what to do.

I was out today taking pictures then can't remember if I turned camera back on to shoot some more or to view images on LCD but it turn on for like 2 seconds then went dead.

I thought I ran out of battery life so I turned off camera for a while (I was still out) and try to see if I could get some juice just to see that it would come back on but nothing.

When I got home, recharged battery fully, popped into camera and still nothing.

I'm such a wreck right now I can't even remember where I placed my manual.

I purchased at BH last Christmas.

Is there anything I can try at home? Any advice you can give is most appreciated!

One thing that you might try is to remove the lens, and then go through your normal camera power-up with a charged battery. It is possible that there is a power fault inside the lens.

Another thing is to test your battery. I know the charger says that it is fully charged. However, the voltage test function of the charger could be faulty. A fully charged BP-511-type battery will have an open circuit voltage of about 8.4 volts. The standard rating is about 7.2-7.4 volts. If the battery gets very much below that, it is very poorly charged or else defective. It is possible for the battery to read 8.4 volts, yet when the normal load of the camera gets on it, it goes to hell very quickly.

Again, you might have a bad battery, a bad charger, a bad lens, or the main part of the camera body bad. You might even find some foreign conductor inside the battery compartment shorting out the battery.

Bob: Thank you for your time! I will sit down calmly and look at the things you have pointed out.
