My A95 is new - just got it a few days ago (i had to exchange the previous A95 because it had a dead pixels problem).

This new A95 seems to sound loud when using the mechanical zoom function, when zooming in and out. Im worried that there is a problem with the motor.

The zooming in noise also sounds quite different from the zooming out noise- just wondering if this is normal? Also zooming-out sounds really loud... i dont know if its faulty?

what should i do?

My A70 does the same thing and when I went to the store and cheked out some other A70 that was on the self I found out some where much quiter and smoother than mine while others were the same so I would say each camera is different and I wouldn't worry about it too much unless it won't work, you're good

thanks for your reply.
i can put up with the noise; i just hope there isnt a technical fault with the camera.

i have recorded the sound that my A95 makes zooming in and out.

can other A95 owners take a listen and tell me what you think. The zooming in and zooming out noises differ (that is clear). But one is significantly louder than the other (not sure if you can hear this on the recording).

Thanks
Tina

I have the A95 and the it sounds just like yours. There is nothing wrong with your camera, I can assure you. I had an A80 before, and that sounded the same way. But I think it could be more quiet as well. Send a mail to Canon ;)
