Couple of pics from the London Airshow. The main show was cancelled, but the airport authority stepped in and got us a small (free) show with a Canadian Hornet, USN Super Hornets and the snowbirds along with a few civilian rides. Turned out ok.....heres a couple pics....

Canon 100-400L IS. They were both handheld.

They cancelled it because two of their major sponsors pulled out at the last minute and they were thousands short to cover the fuel costs for the demo's. Sad....it was looking to be one of the best military shows in London in years.

Sad that the sponsors broke their commitments.
I browsed thru some of the pics on you site... Nice...
The only problem now is that I am a bit more homesick.. haven't been home to London for too many years... and haven't seen the SnowBirds in action even longer!!
(now I REALLY want one of those 100-400's!!!)

Its a nice lens....the push/pull zoom takes some getting used to, but the reach and the IS is very nice.

The snow bird shot shot is awesome! It always amazes me how the can get so close and not hit eachother...thats some skill.

I saw the Snowbirds perform at the Davenport airshow a number of years ago (sadly before I had the Canon digital camera). If anyone ever has a chance to see these guys fly then don't miss it; they are awesome. They fly really tight NINE PLANE formations. The sky is full of airplanes! I saw them do a nine plane line abreast formation and it was perfect.

Heres another couple of images from the same airshow for anyone who is interested.....

First one is the beginning of the "maple split" maneuver and the second is the "4 plane opposing cross"....my personal favourite maneuver they fly....
