We had some nice skys this weekend. I took this one in as an HDR from 3 exposures (-1,0,+1) to brighten the sky. Do you think I overcooked it?

Oh that's very nice...

On Scottsdale Road is it not? I think I pass that church on the way up to Cave Creek for my monthly photo club meetings.

That right. It's Sonrise church on Scottsdale Road. I live in Cave Creek and would definately be interested in a photo club! I just started with DSLR's a few months ago and so far loving it.... trying to learn as much as I can. Can you give me some info on the club?

I'll warn you though that we have a pretty hefty waiting list right now. Having said that, it's worth it to put your name in if you're interested. Fantastic bunch of people with tons of talent.

We maintain a gallery on PBase: LINK (http://www.pbase.com/desertlightphoto/desert_light_themes)

We do have an Arizona Thread over HERE (http://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=683669). Pop by and say hello. We do have the occassional outing from time to time.

It's a nice shot but oversaturated. The sky feels unnatural to me. I would tone the colors down to make it feel more "worldly".

For afternoon light up that way in the winter (especially after we've had rain), it's actually quite accurate...

I thought it looked pretty natural for an HDR, and a lovely image. I think it also makes an excellent B&W (hope you don't mind I did this conversion).

What program(s) did you use to make it a HDR? I quite like it and would love to replicate the effect.

I don't think its over saturated, but the power box is distracting.

Thanks for the critiques and for the B/W conversion which looks nice and makes the church 'pop' a bit more (also hides those power boxes better).

Jay, thanks for the info on the club. Some great images at both the club site and your own. I'll check out the Arizona POTN Forum.

Living Daylight: I use Photomatix Pro for the HDR processing. They offer a full featured trial version at hdrsoft.com if you are interested. The trial version does put a watermark on the end result image but its a good way to try it out.

Fantastic; the saturation stops just shy of being overdone. I love it.

I don't think it's over-saturated at all and to be honest, I never noticed the power box when I first looked. Now that it's been pointed out though... :) A very nice shot.
