I'm off to New York in two weeks time for a few days vacation and I am woundering if anyone knows if there are any photo developing stores in central Manhattan that will write out the data off my compact flash card onto CD since I want to keep the data files.

It's a new'ish technology and only a few stores in the UK are set up with this service.

Otherwise I'll be lugging my laptop over since I've only got a 128MB CF card and I want to take some digital video shots which will eat my card up in no time.

thanks

ricardo, yes, there are photo shops in manhattan that will transfer files from your CF card to CD but, my advice would be: the moment you arrive in new york, buy an extra 128mb CF card and extra battery, coz i know they're a lot cheaper in the US compared to UK,also so you could move around and shoot more pics while they're processing the transfer from your CF to CD,and i'm sure you'll get a preety good deal if you did this all in the same shop. hope that helps ,,pc

Hi Ricardo,

Heading off to China next week and have purchased a new peripheal 20 G storage device....called Phototainer. Resembles a small laptop, about 4 by 6 inches in size. You can upload your photos directly into it, thus saving them all and continue to use the memory card in your S30. Have tried the Phototainer out and I'm really pleased with the results. Also an MP3 player...made in Korea and distributed here in Canada by London Drugs for about $800 CDN.
