Does anyone know of good books that will give me some tips on posing groups, individuals, and couples? In particular family groups.
I have "The Perfect Portrait Guide", which is interesting and gives a few tips, but comes over as more someone showing off and giving a few hints.

Tim,
I am searching for the same thing. I have been studying lots of poses online, but it gets confusing once I move outside with a real person. I don't know what you are wanting to photograph, but my wife came up with a awesome idea. Take a high school yearbook with you and try working the senior portrait poses with a willing model. We have been studying senior portraits pretty hard and have come to the conclusion that the same poses have been going round for years, just the backgrounds and clothing styles keep changing. Hope that helps.

Thanks for the suggestion, but there are no yearbooks here, I think that's mainly a US thing. Anyone know of a good book thar covers a wide range of situations?

I'm really after a recommendation of a good book from a working professional, one they've used in the past, maybe one that they refer to occasionally.

Tim,
Long term answer ? Buy up Cosmo, Vouge etc. every month. Or if you shots are not fashion work, buy up that subjects related magazines. Cut out and scrapbook all the poses you like. Refer to it often to refresh your poses.
Short term answer ? Have a look at the Posing guide sold on One Model Place. I have a copy, I think it is rather good. There is also a Posing guide CD with other stuff on it (I haven't seen this).

Thanks Ian. That's specifically a female glamour posing guide, it would be helpful but doesn't cover what i'm after. I'm really after a posing book for families, individuals who might be overweight or plain, large group of people: just general posing really.

I'm with Tim. I need some creative ideas to get the wheels in my analytical mind moving in a more artistical direction. Just when I've gotten a few good single head shot poses down pretty good, along comes a couple that wants me to do their portrait. Now, I'm back to square one.
I've been to all the local bookstores. I did buy one good book on posing children and babies, but that hasn't been my clientele as of yet. Most of the other, more adult posing books tend to get too artistic, artsy, or provocative for me. I'd just like some simple "couples" shots to get some creative ideas from.
