I'm a new 7D user and finding the learning curve steep. I've lost the printed manual that came with the camera. I have downloaded a copy of the manual from the net but I want something to carry around to refer to easily. Canon Australia say they do not have printed manuals available!
Is there normally such a long delay in getting "spare" accessories available for purchase - any suggestions on where I might get one (in English, preferably in Australia).

there is no way that you can get another copy of that, unless if you knows someone who owns a camera shop and they can give you the book that belongs to the 'display model'

There is in the UK (http://www.instructionbooks.co.uk/), but it costs. £18 will get you the full manual+software package.

Just read about the app for my 5D2 for my itouch last month. Downloaded it and it's what I use now. Cost $1.99.

If you want a small version just like the one that came with the camera, look on EBay. I saw some for about $15-16. If you want a pdf version that you can either print or carry on a phone or PDA, go to the Canon website and download it.

Check with your national Canon HQ and ask for their Parts department. Way back when, I got a used New F-1 that came without a manual. KEH Cameras had advertised the manual but when I got to them it had gone; the person I spoke to there suggested I call Canon USA, and they sent me a copy for free. At worst they'll want a few dollars for it.

I always print off the CD version at A4. It's exactly the same as the paper manual except it's big enough to hold and read properly. Another bonus is that I can add notes.

Which app is this? Is it the Handi 5Dmk2?

I have a copy in my Palm Pre, but you could print the manual from the PDF file. Just print it 4-up (4 sheets to a page) then you can cut it to individual pages so you can have a small sized manual like the factory copy. In fact, a print shop (like Kinko's here) could do all that and spiral-bind it for a pittance.

Download the pdf file from Canon and take it to the Aussie equivalent of Kinko's and have it printed and spiral bound. There was a similar post just recently and I believe a member had his manual printed on 4x6 card stock (both sides) and then had it spiral bound. Sounds almost better than the original.
