Hi guys,

Just after some advice or opinions about whether this is possible. If so are there any limitations with using a nikon flash with a the 300d??? Any recommendations would be great.

Basically i cannot afford the 550ex or the 580ex and the 420ex cannot be put into manual mode from what i have read. So the Nikon SB 600 fits the budget and if it can do everything the 550 or 580 can do that i think i might get it but im not sure if it will even work?? :( Please help!!

Thanks
Fritz

I'd be extremely surprised indeed if a Nikon flash were to work properly on a Canon camera but please do consider saving for either a Canon 550EX or 580EX. Now that the latter is top of the range, you might well eventually come across a 550EX bargain, as I did, and I can assure you it's a really great flash to have, especially on a 300D, as it adds Flash Exposure Compensation, something a 300D doesn't have without being hacked.

Regards, David :)

Thanks for the reply. This might be a option if everything works fine with the 300d. I assume it can be used in manual settings as well as TTL??? Also do you know if the off camera hot shoe II will work with this flash???

If anyone knows of any other flashes around this price range that will work with the 300D, please let me know.

Thanks again
Fritz

The Sigma flash is basically the same as the Canon 550EX, and is probably the best choice for someone who wants both manual and ETTL modes on their flash. The answer to your last two questions is yes. There's nothing else i've heard of that will do a similar job for a similar price or less.

Oh btw does anyone know what is needed in terms of a off camera hot shoe if you want to have a dual flash setup?? is there some kind of multi adapter off camera hot shoe thingy???
