Hi there - I need some help. My birthday is coming up and I have a G2 with a Lensmate adapter and a baby coming. I've been asked by family members what I want for my Birthday and would love to hear what others have purchased and are happy with. I'm particularly interested in any lenses that might be fun (I live in the country and enjoy taking shots of nature).
Any suggestions are much appreciated!!!

I can't really tell you what lens to get (maybe someone else has some input for that). What I can REALLY recommend, is get a decent external flash. The reason...with you baby on the way, you'll want to take pictures of your newest treasure. With an extrenal flash, you will reduce the occurance of REDEYE. 20 years from now, you won't have to explain all those shots of your son/daughter with red eye.
Just some advise.

I second the motion for the 420EX flash. Get a LumiQuest ProMax System kit as well (for bouncing and diffusing the light from the flash).

I agree with the flash but if you can't stretch to the 420EX then a second hand 380EX is a good alternative. A PC & credit card comes in handy as well ;-)

I like my monopod and then my external flash with a cord so it can come off the camera.

Ideas for the smaller budget:
Photo paper, extra media card[s]; a miniature tri-pod for tossing in the diaper bag; a set of macro filters; lens cleaning supplies; a new camera bag [can you have too many?...I think not]; a good photography book--for either technical tips or inspiration; gift certificate for a class or membership to a photo club [get mommy out of the house once in a while]; photo-editing software; the lens of your dreams.

In place of colored filters. Get paint chips from the paint store. Use them for your auto white sample. They will give a hue to the picture. Blues give an orange-red hue.
