I'm too stinkin' busy this week to do any significant amount of shooting, but my new tripod came today, and wow. I never really thought a tripod could elicit some kind of visceral response, but man, this thing looks amazing. Maybe it's the carbon fiber junkie cyclist in me, but this thing just looks slick, not to mention the light weight and the fact that it feels extremely well built.

I'll have to update after a weekend or two of hiking, but so far I'm very impressed. I guess there really IS something to spending more on a good tripod--something I'm learning with some DSLR experience...

Best pic I could find online is here... I'll shoot some of mine soon. This thing is just gorgeous.

Grats on the purchase, what kind of ballhead/panhead are you using?
I bought the 190CXPRO3 myself (with 488RC2), took it on trip to Hong Kong and London and I loved it. I'm looking into buying a photoclam ballhead instead, the 488RC2 is ok, but too heavy for what it does.

Congrats, looks like an awesome tripod. I'd love to hear how it operates on hikes and/or long haul sessions.

Looks good. I plan on getting the 190CXPRO3 with the Markins Q3. I'm curious as to what ballhead you decided to go with and how it works out for you as I'm still up in the air as to what I'll get.

I went with the 496RC2. Seemed like a good combination of sturdiness and light weight. So far, so good.
