I'm looking for a new laptop to do photo editing.
I'll be running photoshop cs3 and lightroom 2

first, does graphic cards matter?

second, which cpu is best, does slower i7 be better than faster i5:

1. Intel® Core™ i7-720QM processor + Nvidia graphic card
Features a 6MB cache and 1.6GHz processor speed.

2.Intel® Core™ i5-430M processor + NVIDIA GeForce GTS 360M graphics
With 1066MHz system bus, 3MB cache and 2.53GHz processor speed.

3.Intel® Core™ i5-430M processor + ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4670 graphics
Features a 3MB cache and 2.53GHz processor speed.

third, Does core i7 with turbo mode makes a difference?

thanks

i7 will be loads faster than the i5. But also more expensive and usually lower battery life/larger models. The two i5 systems you have there are almost identical, both are DX10.1 mid-level models more than enough for anything.

Graphics only really matter for photoshop CS4 right now, and even then most integrated options are fine anyway.

And ALL i7 models have turbo-boost. Asus laptops (like the new UL80) sometimes come with their own overclocking system called turbo, and that's well worth the extra $50 bucks.

so, the slower i7 1.6ghz is still better than i5 2.53ghz?

That "1.6gh" quad core processor runs at at a maximum 2.4gh when two cores are used (the i5 is only a dual core, and uses 2.53gh maximum, it's actually only a 2.26gh processor). When a single core is used, it runs at 2.8gh.

A nice article about the i3/i5/i7 in notebooks http://www.notebookcheck.net/Review-Intel-Core-i3-i5-i7-Processors-Arrandale.25085.0.html
