Ok, so I bought the stuff to make myself a car rig for my camera. The short time I was home this last month (I work out of the country), I finally got a chance to try it out.I found that it worked great, but even with almost no sun, I could not get the right exposure due to slow shutter speeds. I know the solution for this is a ND filter, But I am not sure which one. I figure a 1.2 should be enough as that stops it down by 4. What do you guys think?I have a hard time because I am shooting a black car (this time), so I need some light, but not to much...lol.I will post a picture of my first try...Don't laugh though!!It was freezing outside, and my friend who was helping me did not want to stay out to let the sun go down anymore (which might have helped). We only rolled the car about 3' for this shot. I know the BG sucks, but it was just for practice, so I was not worried about it.Maybe some tips for my next try.Oh ya, I did not spend more than about 2 min. in PP as I knew the shot was...shot...anyway :-)http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c319/spydermonkey00/phtography%20photos%201/Firstrollingshot.jpg

Dang, I forgot they had a "talk about transportation" section lol.

Thanks for moving Mod.

While I am typing this, I might as well ask...There is no way to use a flash with those slow sync speeds that I might not know about is there?

ND should help here, I'd go ahead and pick up a polarizer as well. I'm not sure if the 40D has ISO expansion but if it does you can shoot at ISO L which is ISO50.

There was a polarizer on there for this shot. I have switched to the 5D MKII now.

Ah, you might want to update your sig ;) The 5DII definitely has the ISO expansion.

Ya, I need too, I just got the 5D though, and have not even got back home to take it out of the box (I am out of the country right now).

When you get an ND filter make sure to get a slim filter for an Ultra Wide Angle lens, unless the vignetting doesn't bother you. I've stacked 3 filters at a time but had to remove/crop out the vignetting in photoshop.

Humm, I just ordered one from B&H, I hope it was the right one...
I will be using the 24-70 for the next shots

I got the
77mm Digital HT (High Transmission) Neutral Density (ND) 1.2

Did it work for you? I'm about to pull the trigger on a ND filter.
