Cookie cutter Zenfolio site for now, nothing spectacular (I need to get out my hard drive to load some more pics).

Nice job. What level package did you get from Zenfolio?

That's still the 14 day trial but I'll probably stick with the premium. Granted it's 100 a year but I think I can spare $9.00 a month for it and all the options it comes with. Esp when it comes to people ordering photos.

Check around there are usually at least $5 off coupons available. See if you can change the background on the galleries to white to make the flow from your home page more consistent untl you decide what you want to do when you customize.

I am in the 14 day trial right now and am having a tough time justifying zenfolio. It is probably just me and my lack of knowledge on this stuff. It seems like there are only 8 fonts to choose from. Does that change when you go premium?
I am more than willing to go premium if I can get it to look like a non-zenfolio site. everyone talks about the customization abilities but I just don't ever see it.
I am really a noob when it comes to web design so I have gotten frustrated trying to do the layout and design. I just want something that looks a little slick and can host my portfolio and allow people to order from the site.

I'm playing with a zenfolio & smugmug site right now to see how far I can customize but it does require more than a basic plan to get full customization. When I've had a chance to explore them more I'll post something.

I think you have to know some code know how and what not in order to make them look like "non" zenfolio. Unfortunately I know more about ancient chinese history than I do about coding (and I know nothing about ancient chinese history) so for now my site will look rather basic and I don't have the scratch to pay someone to make it look otherwise.

I am new here....been lurking around a bit, but I can help with a DISCOUNT CODE for Zenfolio. You can use AHW-5PC-EVX for $5. As a professional photographer, I cannot speak highly enough about Zen and most especially with the customization aspect. Feel free to take a look at my site...in my signature. I do have the premium package, and have been thrilled with the design, customer service and print qualtiy of eveything for my clients from small prints, to gallery wraps and custom pieces.
If you have any questions, I'm happy to help!

There is no code needed for any of the customizations with Zenfolio. It is all very straight forward. If you need any help, I would be happy to help you. But as an avid user, I can tell you it is very user friendly for photographer and clients alike which is very beneficial.

i hope you don't think i was pointing out that your site looked basic and zenfolio-ed. if so, i didn't mean anything by it.
i was just trying to figure out how much customization the free trial gives you.
the one thing that drives me crazy about zenfolio is the choice of 8 fonts.

If you go to Advanced customization and create your own theme you can choose from more fonts but there are still quite a few limits on what you can do mostly color, fonts and limited backgrounds. I'm still looking for a way to do more. This is as far as I've gotten customizing Zenfolio right now http://folioscenes.com/ I've got more to do if I can figure out how but it will have to wait until next week.
