HTML in text fields ?

I was going to be specific, but I suspect I will keep running into this

I would like to use HTML ( a graphic with a link) in the photo title, but no luck, it does bizzare things (messes up the thumbnail view, try it)

So my question is:

In general, how would I allow html in a given text field (where there is no "auto link" setting) ?

is this a database issue or a php form issue?

Don't know if i can help but if you send me the html you are having trouble with it would give me a better idea of the problem.
