I just ordered a BG-E5 battery grip for my Canon XSi. Just getting into photography and this is my first DSLR. A few weeks ago I bought a new Manfrotto tripod and ball head, 190XB/496RC2.
My question is, does the battery grip have a hole to mount the tripod plate?
I really wanted the battery grip regardless, but I am getting very attached to my tripod (no pun intended) and probably use it more than hand-holding the camera.

Thanks for any help,
Don

Yes, the grip is threaded for a tripod mounting screw.

You do not have to remove the grip to use a tripod.

Nope, you can screw the grip directly onto the tripod, a mounting plate, etc...

Thanks for all the quick replies!
I know I will enjoy using the new battery grip and I really didn't want to keep swapping it out to use the tripod.

The tripod really improved my image quality.
I think now it has become an obsession, next to composition.

Thanks again,
Don
