Neither of you are close!
Keep guessing! :)
Boutty

What ever it is, it's very colourful. Nice shot.
I'm guessing it's a part of a Japanese/Chinese doll or toy?
Boutty
20th of July 2005 (Wed), 17:03
Not close I guessed.
It seems to have a Japanese/Chinese writing meaning "wood" or "forest"...
Since the nice colour, it must be some sort of decoration or figurine?
nitsch
20th of July 2005 (Wed), 17:07
I'm guessing it's a part of a Japanese/Chinese doll or toy?
Part of that guess is getting on the right track... but I'm not telling you which bit! :)
Boutty
20th of July 2005 (Wed), 17:20
nitsch thanks for that bit of 'hint'. Sorry I can't stay guessing. (at work now... need to do real work...  ) But I'll back to check if anyone gets it.

well, i wasnt tryingto be rude, but unfortunately i do need sleep every once in a while.
I slept last night too, but I didn't leave anyone hanging. If you knew you weren't going to be able to pay close attention to the guesses, you should have passed or made it easy enough for someone to take over so the game could have kept going. The rest of us should not have to be put on hold because you need to go to sleep.
I don't mean to be disrespectful and if I'm wrong, I'm wrong. And I shouldn't have used the word 'rude'. Sorry. Inconsiderate was probably a better term.
My guess on the latest picture is decoration on a Japanese sword.
nitsch

Ok guys you seem to be heading off in the wrong direction. The writing is not chinese/japanese - in fact its a letter f. The part of Boutty's guess which was on the right lines was the doll/toy bit. These are very famous.
Here's a bit more:

okay- I have a suggestion for the game. There was grumbling about people being gone for a while and it was suggested that if you are gone for long then you should give the answer and someone else pick up. I was wondering if there could be another solution: PMAR
PMAR: private message answer request. So if you post a picture and guesses are being made, ut you know you need to be gone over - let's say 3 hours- you post a PMAR. Someone else can accept the PMAR- whoever accepts the PMAR gets a private message through the forum private messaging of the answer (maybe you can send the full picture?) and is then in charge of letting us know if our guesses are right or wrong. They could also provide hints if we need it too. When someone gets it right they just keep the game going as usual. That way the game continues but we get to continue guessing without a bunch of - oh I have to go so here's the answer.
Make any sense? Probably a dumb idea, but thought I'd at least suggest it.

21st of July 2005 (Thu), 06:38
nitsch - do you have a picture that shows more of the object? I still can't really see what it is.
nitsch
21st of July 2005 (Thu), 07:13
I think there is enough there to provide some clues. You have a button with some writing on it ending in the letters "ff", there is a tag which has some markings on which may provide a clue. You know it is a famous toy/doll type of thing. If you need another clue - It's made in Germany.

am_pitbull_terrier

IMO a "drill bit" drills holes, a "bit for a drill" is anything else made to fit in a drill.
