Yeah. Hmm, wonder who pioneered that technique.... :)
I know, if I ever catch that cheatin' SOB, I'll...

Yep....a lesson he'll NEVER forget!

so, anyway....who has a macro shot? I'm feeling the shakes coming on!!!

Nortelbert
5th of June 2007 (Tue), 16:37
Hahaha, I re-named my last crop "belt-buckle" to throw people off of the fact that it was a crop of a credit card. And when Nortelbert looked at the EXIF data, she guessed belt-buckle, and I yelled at her, LoL. I guess cheating payed off this time - well done!!!

Umm.... I'm a guy. The avatar is my "almost" 5 year old (then aged 2 and a half). And I didn't look at the EXIF, I looked at the filename... did the same thing for the phone.

BTW ... I'm not really trying to cheat, I just thought it was funny to point out. In any case, I'm at work... whoever wants to go next can.

<AkulA>
5th of June 2007 (Tue), 16:48
Hahaha, sorry Nortelbert.... DUDE! I was wondering about that, and I had a 50/50 chance, LoL. And oh well - if you hadn't guessed it, I think that one would have gone on for a long time. Even after seeing the full crop, I don't think I could have guessed it with that much!

Folk that host their photos elsewhere have to make sure that the image of the full sized object is not in the same directory, or that it isn't labeled with a descriptive name as well. Either that or make sure the gallery is blocked.

Look at message 19170... it's your original phone post, and it has the filename right there... you named it "crop of phone". THose of us who have our perferences to NOT display attachments automatically on this forum see the filename instead.

There's also lots of programs that can help you see info about photos. I use Opanda - it's pretty sweet, just Right+Click and you can see focal length, all the settings - almost everything! Only problem is, when people choose to "save for web" it kills all that info.

stitching on a saddle?

StewartR
6th of June 2007 (Wed), 02:38
Well, obviously it's stitching, but I was hoping that the pattern of stitching and the nature of the material which is stitched might be a bit more distinctive than it seems to have turned out.

Here's a larger crop.

It's a Timberland boot and I guess one could wear them for hiking (though I personally don't). I have several pairs of Timberlands, and the stitching is identical on all of them, which is why I thought it might be recognisable. Sorry if it wasn't a very good contest.

By the way...interesting sole on those boots. (future macro shot?) Are they some sort of recycled material?Well spotted. It says here on the tag:

"Vibram has had great respect for nature since founder Vitale Bramani invented the rubber mountaineering sole in 1937. New Vibram Ecostep soles are made with 30% recycled material."

Obviously it wouldn't be prudent of me to say whether you might be seeing these again one day from a different angle! But the bottom of the sole is actually a boring standard grey Vibram sole - almost indistinguishable from the 1937 original (http://www.vibram.com/eng/new_history/1937.htm). That wacky flecking is only really visible on the sides of the sole. Shame really.

No clue to be honest. They tend to just make work boots so it's not like they show up in your average shoe shop anyway.

Actually, I just checked Teh Google and there are quite a few UK resellers with them. Good boots. :)

Haha, I think that would make an awesome title under your name, like the lucky high-post guys get! ;)How do they get those? whats the number of posts?Partly it's automatic. 1,000 posts = Senior Member, 2,000 posts = Gold member, etc. But the non-standard titles are bestowed by the Title Fairy, who moves in mysterious ways. You can read about it in the Show us how you got your titles (http://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?p=3331755) thread. I think it is necessary to say something funny or stupid that catches the Title Fairy's eye, like I did yesterday, but there are no guarantees.

StewartR

OK, Ryan is a photographer. He works for the USAF, but even if they do have umbilical cables for connecting up cruise missiles or stuff like that lying around, it's probably quite unlikely that he'd use them daily for his job. So this must be some sort of camera- or computer-related equipment.

And now I'm stuck. I don't have much camera gear, and I'm pretty sure none of my PCs have a connector like that.
